Where is Belfast?
Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland which is part of the UK. It is in the Northern part of the island to the left of Britain. Traveling to Belfast from Britain is still considered traveling within the UK so if you hold UK citizenship/permission to reside in the UK, you do not need an additional visa to travel to Belfast.
If traveling from Ireland (the southern part of the island) you will likely need a visa unless you hold an Irish passport.
How can I get to Belfast?
If traveling from Great Britain, there are multiple daily flights to Belfast International Airport and Belfast City Airport from all major UK cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Southampton. You can use Google Flights or SkyScanner to find the best prices.
For those that would prefer to travel by boat, Stena Line have daily departures from Cairnryan in Scotland and Liverpool in England.
If traveling from Ireland, there are multiple public transport options available including buses from Aircoach, Dublin Express, Translink or you can take the Enterprise train. These are all extremely cheap, especially if you book well in advance.
Where can I stay?
You can use Expedia or Booking to find accommodation in the city center of Belfast. We recommend booking as far in advance as possible (right now!) as July 12th is a public holiday in Belfast and we suspect all the hotels will be fully occupied.
